Yamaha YZF-R125 VS Honda CBR125 VS Kymco KR Sport part 3

Part3
Kymco KR Sport 125cc

Taiwanese manufacturer Kymco has introduced the KR Sport 125 as the competition from its side for the Honda CBR125. But is there a competition at all ??
The engine is a relatively low-tech unit, air- rather than liquid-cooled, but it does have four valves and a five-speed gearbox, and it works fine. The throttle response is crisp and it has a proper power band, whereas some learner-legal machines feel desperately flat at higher revs. Kymco will win over some potential Honda customers for its size, the CBR 125 is small and so is YZR R125 and is about £300 cheaper.
But thats the end of it. There is nothing that can be compared with the japs in terms of build quality, ride and performance.

For years the NSR125R was Honda's offering in the 125cc supersports market. Made exclusively for Europe it was styled for performance with an impressive 2-stroke engine. But with growing environmental concerns and the implementation of Euro 1 emissions, the NSR had to be discontinued in 2003.

Meet the new CBR125R, which is set to take up from where the NSR left off. The new 4-stroke 125cc replacement is sure to appeal to a wider segment of new and young riders looking for some competitive spice in their first real motorcycle. The CBR125R takes its style lead from the CBR600RR and new CBR1000RR Fireblade, mimicking their supersports styling and colour schemes. The aggressive race replica style dual headlights and stepped seat only add to the supersports image.Other features include electric start for ease of use, a 6-speed gearbox and disc brakes front and rear.

Part 1 : Yamaha YZF-R125
Part2 : read here
Part3 : read here

Let me make one thing clear that Yamaha currently has no concrete plans for bringing this bike in India any time soon. The bikes that its bringing to India are YZF R1 and MT01.
The battle is between the Japs and a Taiwanese challenger Kymco for the best entry level sports bike in 125 cc. The segment had been dominated by Honda CBR125 in most of the markets around the world so far. But with the Yamaha YZF-R125 equations are about to change.

R-Series styling

MotoGP tech

Part 1 : Yamaha YZF-R125

This is the all-new 2008 Yamaha YZF-R125 motorcycle which will go head to head with the top-selling Honda CBR125R.

The Yamaha YZF-R125 uses an all-new liquid-cooled 124cc, four-valve, short-stroke single cylinder engine, which is claimed to be the most powerful 125cc four-stroke motorcycle available. It has a six-speed gearbox and fuel injection, and a Yamaha YZF-R6 style stubby exhaust with twin catalysts is fitted.

A full size Deltabox beam frame is used to make the Yamaha YZF-R125 feel and ride closer to a full size bike than the Honda CBR125R, and an aluminium ‘banana’ style swingarm, 33mm diameter forks and a 292mm brake disc/Brembo caliper and wide tyres complete the mini-sportsbike chassis.

The styling is close to the new 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 – the short tail and aggressive looking twin headlight fairing are almost indistinguishable from the 600 at distance. Colours are blue/black, red/white, grey/black or yellow/black.

The HONDA CBR125 And Kymco KR Sport

The YZF-R125 is definitely most advanced 125 supersport!
It will surely leave the CBR behind

as compared to
BR125 = 13 bhp @ 10,000 rpm. torque 10.1Nm @ 8,000 rpm
as compared to
KR Sport 11.8 bhp @ 10,000 rpm. torque 9.9Nm @ 8,000 rpm

Super bikes coming soon on Indian Roads

GLX1800

CBR1000

GSX1000

NEW DELHI: The next big war in the motorcycle segment is likely to happen in the high-end bike segment. Almost all bike makers are gearing up with a line-up for the super bike segment making the most of the new regulations for bikes of 800 cc and above.

Suzuki Motorcycles India (SMIPL) is in the process of getting government approvals for this segment. SMIPL vice-president (marketing) Atul Gupta said: “We are setting up three parallel process simultaneously to foray into the big bike segments. One is getting the necessary approvals.

Second, training our staff to handle the servicing aspect and third, identifying the cities where we getting large number of enquiries.” Mr Gupta refused to reveal the names of the bikes that are likely to be imported next year. However, auto industry sources believe the company is looking at importing Hayabusa and its GSX range of super sport bikes which could include GSX-1000.

Japanese motorcycle maker Yamaha India has already got its service and dealership position in place and likely to import the first set of its super bikes by November. Yamaha Motor India managing director and CEO Tomotaka Ishikawa has already confirmed plans to bring in R1 and R6.

Arch rival Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India has also said that they are keen on getting the high-end bikes and would not keep out of the battle heating up in this segment. Sources believe that the company is looking at importing its cult bikes CBR 1000 and GLX 1800.

A senior marketing official with a two-wheeler maker said, “The market potential for the big bikes might be small as of now. But no two-wheeler maker can ignore the fact that almost every player will have a line-up ready for this segment. Especially the international bike makers will just have to pick and choose and homologate bikes from their international portfolio.”

Home grown Bajaj Auto’s Rajiv Bajaj in a recent press meet has confirmed that he sees potential in the premium bike segment. In fact, Bajaj is close to finalising its partnership with its long time technical partner Kawasaki to enter the above 500 cc bike segment. Even Royal Enfield is building up a 500 cc engine to be strapped on its bikes.

Yamaha to launch YZF R1 and MT01

Update:- Yamaha YZF R1 and MT01 launched
NEW DELHI: Struggling to make a mark in the Indian two-wheeler market, Japanese bike major Yamaha is turning to its superbikes MT01 and YZF R1 to stamp its authority, with plans to launch the products as early as November this year.
The company is giving final touches to plans of rolling out its flagship sports bikes -- the 1,600cc MT01 and 1,000cc YZF R1, besides contemplating a foray into the gearless scooters segment.

"Going forward our aim is to become a dominant player in the Indian two-wheeler market by rolling out high-end or executive segment bikes. Besides, we will also offer two superbikes MT01 and YZF R1 to the Indian consumer by November this year"
Yamaha Motor India Managing Director Tomotaka Ishikawa told media.
MT01 and R1 would be retailed through the company's select dealers in metropolitan cities and Yamaha is targeting sales of more than two-dozen bikes in the first few months of launch, he added.

Speaking on Yamaha's plans for the domestic market, Ishikawa said the company would not launch products in the entry-level segment and would bank primarily on the executive and high-end bikes to capture its targeted 10 per cent share in the domestic market by 2012.
"We are taking it as a challenge to build the Yamaha brand again in India and have planned several launches over the next four years. However, we are not looking at the entry-level segment anymore as it does not go with the company's image"
he said.

So now you know what sun sign you have and what planet rules your sun sign and what traits the planet would bless you with and what gem suits your sun sign.

More on Gems / stones to follow.

Tip: Don't just wear these gems for ornamental purposes without any expert advice.
If at all you are wearing a gem without any consultation make sure the gem is not in direct contact with your body or light rays don't pass through it straight to your skin. eg:- A ring carrying a gem sealed from below would be less helpful / harmful than a ring in which the gem is open from below or touches skin directly.

Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung to create new memory card format

Having multiple phones, digital cameras, card readers? If yes i am sure you always wished you had one memory card format that fits all you mobile devices, mp3players, digital cameras etc.
Seems like the wish is about to be fulfilled (but not so soon).

"Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and three other technology companies have announced that they will join forces to create a unified memory card for electronic devices by 2009.
The new specification, dubbed Universal Flash Storage (UFS) will "reflect the industry's need for a universal memory solution that removes the need for adaptors to accommodate different removable memory card sizes."
The companies also hope that working together will help improve speed and performance enabling high-speed access to large multimedia files, while reducing power-consumption in consumer electronic devices.
The manufacturers say that mobile handsets and digital cameras will be the first to benefit from the universal open standard."

Astrology Basics part1

Well after all the posts abouts cars and bikes my first post on Astrology. Studied a lot during my college days, now planning to get back to it. Will keep on posting more and more on this as i get back to my full form.
The problem with astrology is that it then becomes addictive, to an extent that u ask birth date and place of birth or see his palm to every single person u know / meet.

Well like all other astrology books / Blogs i am not going to justify my faith in astrology or try to prove that its actually a science. People who believe read on others just get back to bikes, cars, mobile etc.

Just a point i would like to make is tons of super computers fail to predict the weather even 1 hrs away from now, in spite of having so much scientific base, computing power.
Sun signs
So something about sun signs:-

Well a sun sign is not to be confused with a moon sign. i.e "Chandra rashi" or "Rashi" as we call it in marathi / hindi.

Tip: Dont ever fall in love with a gemini girl.

Kawasaki to provide tech for high-end Bajaj engines

Kawasaki tech for high-end Bajaj engines
Swaraj Baggonkar / Mumbai September 13, 2007
Japan’s Kawasaki Motors plans to tap long-time partner Bajaj Auto’s vendors for putting together its high-end motorcycles for the global market.

In return, it will give Bajaj, the Pune-based two-wheeler maker, design and engineering support for building high-end complex engines. Although Kawasaki has been Bajaj’s technology partner for a long time, the two have ruled out joint manufacturing of Kawasaki motorcycles in India.

“We will provide all the support to Bajaj Auto. We will also look to source components from India through Bajaj,” said Hideki Kikuchi, chief of design and R&D, Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

Bajaj is said to be working on high-end engines for its small car, which may be launched in 2009, and also for bigger motorcycles.

“Our partnership with Kawasaki has been very strong and we are on the verge of announcing something very big shortly,” said Rajiv Bajaj, Bajaj Auto’s managing director.

Mumbai To Ladakh Solo on p200

Back in January me, my friend Amit patil, Charu started to plan to ride all the way to leh from mumbai, one hell of ride, once in a life time event.
Patil said "Abhi nahi gaya toh kabhi nahi jaa payega" and after marriage your wife wont let you go. But being all software professionals and busy with work, we dropped off but Patil went to leh from mumbai solo on his p200.

Here is the man and machine:-

August 18 2007: Start from home. Its a saturday.A good nights sleep is absolutely essential for a ride and I slept early and woke up at around 4:30 am.(Deleted all the porn movies from my pc previous nite incase I dont make it back)Mom had made some cutlets previous night so that I dont waste any time in ordering food on day 1.Start from home at around 6:00 am.Tilak and send off from home...even the neighbourhood aunty is awake to wish me luck..Tie up saddle bags, sleeping bag and tripod using rope used for hanging clothes.have about two pieces of 15 meters each. One rope suffices. The descision to use this rope instead of bungee is foolish I realise later.I dont wear the carbon fiber gloves of cramster i have as I need a good control of accelator(again a foolish descision as I realise on 'minor' fall on day 2).I wear the k2k jacket and skating knee caps(which I later remove for want of circulation to my legs....again a foolish descion).
5 kms into the ride from andheri i reach malad flyover.I am carrying a small sack having about 4 liters of water and cutlets in silver foil and half a dozen bananas. The small sack is resting uneasily with sleeping bag behind my back.I dump a two liter water bottle on the flyover and tie a one liter bottle to my saddle bags( which falls off at the bumpy road near manor)and have a liter in sack....The load off my back makes me comfortable.
See a chick with boyfriend on a Bike who keeps staring at me for my strange gear. This is not the first time I am stared at.I get used to it by day 2 and I keep getting stares till chandigarh
I keep drinking water.....peeing after every hour or so(to avoid dehydration)....ride at 60-70 and progress is good.Stop at dhabas occasionally to buy new water bottles.road from baruch till vadodara is bad and progress slow. After vadodara the road is welcome.

Amazing feet i must say.
Amit:
riding solo means just not feeling brave or feeling you are a superman/invincible.It means being vigilant all the time. Here is an episode I would like to quote.

When I reached pangong I stayed in the eco-tents put up over there.I was only Indian tourist there.Three firangs and their guide later came and put up in a barrack style room abt 50 meters from the eco-tents.Apart from four of us and the driver/guide of firangs vehicle there was tent owner and his helper cum cook. There was none one else.I had some itch of staying in tent(It was near full moon of raksha bandhan and I had planned my journey so that I can camp at pangong on full moon and stay in tent)

I was offered a meal by tent-owner and his helper(Which was billed of-course)Later after the meal I realized that I was fast falling into sleep.I shook myself awake and realized at that point I could have been drugged/poisoned in meal by tent owner. If he had done so he would have been richer by 1.5-2 lakh counting my cash, bike, cellphone, cameras, equipment. There was a possibility that he could have crushed my head with a stone and I would have never woken up.

The tent owner and his cook knew I was alone and we had negotiated upon the rent on that particular day itself. So there was no possibilty of anyone else knowing I was with them at that particular time as I didnt interact with the firangs who kept to themselves. My parents would have known I was going to pangong thats it.Pangong is so big(134 kms).Tent owner could have killed me ditched my body anywhere where I would have rotted for eternity

Staying in a hotel room and bolting the door from inside is a different thing but being in tent alone meant being vulnerable all night. So that dream night I had been looking forward to for so long....I never slept.Having studied martial arts I aint scared of getting mugged/knifed(I can manage that) but head being crushed by a stone or being killed in one blow while you are asleep is not what I like.People say culture in ladakh is nice and people goody good....but it doesnt take time for rot to spread and greed is a primitive instinct.Of course I wasnt poisoned or drugged or not even a remote attempt was made to mug...but its good being paranoid and vigilant rather than being dead and sorry.

Moral of story:STAY VIGILANT AND ALERT FOR THREATS.On road people may stop you and ask for help.Just analyze and make sure it isnt ambush. It is good to be paranoid sometimes.

He is back, alive and kicking. I call him baap of bikers.
