Tata Crossover: Indicruz to hit the roads by year end

Tata Motors is planning to launch a Crossover vehicle, The Indicruz or the Xover as popularly referred to after the concept was first displayed in 2005 at Geneva Motor Show.

The new offering would compete with established products such as the Toyota Innova and General Motors Chevrolet Tavera, and soon to be launched Mahindra Ingenio.

The Crossover (Xover) is a 7-seater and will most likely have the latest 2.2 liter Dicor engine, navigation system, ABS and air bags among and classy interiors along with other things like 17" aloy wheels, mirror mounted indicators. The car will have a global launch around November.

The Crossovers have been in great demand with the taxi companies which ferry callcentre and BPO staff thanks to the outsourcing boom witnessed by the country. Toyota Innova, amongst the most successful Crossovers has sold 132,045 units since its launch in 2005.

Tata Motors has so far had no presence in this segment. The Indicruz or The Crossover should be a success as long as they keep the overall quality, refinement and price under control.

Interior Pictures of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

The 2009 10th generation Toyota Corolla in India is headed towards India and will be probabaly be available towards the ends of the year.
The existing 9th generation Corolla was launched in 2003 and has now started loosing it out to the market leader Civic and the Skoda. The over all design looks fresh and contemporary. The new Corolla is slightly shorter and wider as compared to the 9th genration Corolla, giving it more sporty, stable and spacious feel.
The interior of the all New Corolla appear to be a lot more classier, plush with modern design and flowing curves.

I would say bring it on soon, till then Civic is my favorite.

Bajaj ordered to pay for false mileage claims, Hero Honda to focus on rural india

Bajaj ordered to pay for false mileage claims:

Auto giant Bajaj Auto has landed in trouble for its "misleading and deceptive" ads as a consumer court has asked it to compensate a scooter owner whose four-stroke scooter gave him an average of 34 km a litre as compared to the company's claims of 74 km a litre.
Holding the auto-major guilty of causing "mental agony and harassment," Justice Kapoor directed the company to pay Rs 15,000 to city resident Karan Pal Singh, the owner of the scooter.

I wonder if anyone has any complaints about XCD not delivering 109 kmpl. Or does it?

Pawan Munjal, MD of Hero Honda, told TOI that rural market would be a special focus area for the company as it is looking at new growth areas to maintain sales momentum in a shrinking market. As part of its strategy, Hero Honda is mapping the demographic landscape to formulate region-specific modules to tap customers at a very local level. Munjal added that the company is tieing up with new partners, including local cooperative banks and financing units to have a robust financial model.
