Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) will add two new compact cars, The Splash and all new Concept car A-Star to its current range of offerings in 2008. The A-Star which is world car will be launched in India in October next year. The A-Star will also be exported to Europe and will be showcased for the first time at the Auto Expo in January. It will sport a 1 litre, Euro V-compatible, aluminum engine. The manual transmission for the car will be manufactured by Suzuki Powertrain India, a Suzuki subsidiary.
Apart from the A-Star, the company is also planning to introduce another global model Splash to India. The Splash will be powered by a 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel engine and might replace Wagon R and would compete with the Hyundai i10 - Getz.
