Tata Motors is planning to launch a Crossover vehicle, The Indicruz or the Xover as popularly referred to after the concept was first displayed in 2005 at Geneva Motor Show.

The new offering would compete with established products such as the Toyota Innova and General Motors Chevrolet Tavera, and soon to be launched Mahindra Ingenio.

The Crossover (Xover) is a 7-seater and will most likely have the latest 2.2 liter Dicor engine, navigation system, ABS and air bags among and classy interiors along with other things like 17" aloy wheels, mirror mounted indicators. The car will have a global launch around November.

The Crossovers have been in great demand with the taxi companies which ferry callcentre and BPO staff thanks to the outsourcing boom witnessed by the country. Toyota Innova, amongst the most successful Crossovers has sold 132,045 units since its launch in 2005.

Tata Motors has so far had no presence in this segment. The Indicruz or The Crossover should be a success as long as they keep the overall quality, refinement and price under control.
