Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) is planing to add three new products to its existing range of products in the country. HMSI plans to enter the 125 cc automatic scooter segment and also launch two new bikes in the 150 cc and 125 cc category. The company will exhibit all these products in the upcoming Auto Expo in January 2008 and subsequently launch them in domestic market.
The ET reports that HMSI head sales and marketing NK Rattan said that company will be launching a new scooter, but did not confirm its specifications. The company also has plans to launch some new motorcycles. They would showcase entire range and high technology products including a few concept two-wheelers of our parent Honda Motor Company’s at the upcoming Auto Expo.
HMSI’s currently offers 150 cc Eterno and the 100 cc Activa and Dio, which have given it a staggering 58% market share. It sold 3,65,214 scooters in the total 6,29,182 scooters sold in April-October this year. To further strengthen its position, the company is entering the 125 cc segment which will compete with Suzuki Motorcycle India’s Access and Kinetic Motor’s Flyte.
HMSI has marginal presence in motorcycle with 4% market share thanx to the Honda unicorn 150cc.
It plans to increase its range with the launch of two new bikes in the volume generating 125 -150 cc segments.
The 125cc segment scooter segment is surely getting exiting and so is the 125cc - 150cc Motorcycle segment. Bajaj xcd 125 and Hero Honda Hunk being the recent additions to it.
